Story Notes:

This is my very first Nuke fic and I hope I do the character's justice. IF anyone is out of character I apologize it's been awhile since I have watched Nuke's story.

Chapter Notes:

Chapter one is mainly a prologue but if those of you who choose to read it wish for me to continute I will make sure the following chapter's are longer.

“Hey Noah you okay?’

Noah Mayer glanced up from the screen play that had been tossed on his coffee table no more then ten minutes prior to him becoming lost in his thoughts. “Huh what?”

“You’re spacing out man. Now that I think about it, you’ve been spacing out and looking at your phone ever since I got here. Is everything all right?”

Noah offered a smile to his friend and roommate. “Jake I’m fine trust me. I’m just…”

Jake stood up and walked over to the calendar. “Oh I see what’s going on. Dude if you had plans for tomorrow why didn’t you tell me. I could have rescheduled the meeting.”

Noah raised his hands up to protest. “No, no that won’t be necessary. I’m not going to go.”

Jake stopped. “What a minute what do you mean you’re not going to go?  You’ve had this trip planned for weeks. Why the sudden change of mind?”

Noah leaned back against the dark blue stain sofa and placed his hand over his face having dropped his phone on his lap. “I don’t think I can face him. It’s been two years already. Besides he probably doesn’t want to see me.”

Jake walked over and sat down next to his friend. “Noah, you said yourself you’d do anything to see him again and if he didn’t show up on your door step after the first year apart from each other you were going to show up on his doorstep.”

“Well yeah but-“ Noah started.

“But nothing man. Look I myself wasn’t very fond of the fact you were gay but you grew on me and I’m not fully accepting of all gays but they way you talk about him; it’s obvious to me you need him.” Jake said. “And if you don’t go I’ll find some way to make him come here.”

Noah sighed as he smiled at his roommate. “You really are insistent on this aren’t you?”

“You better believe I am. Now get some shuteye you have a plane to catch tomorrow. Oh wait have you even packed yet?”

“I started to but then I was having second thoughts. “ Noah admitted. “I might as well finish what I started and get this trip over with.”

“Need any help?’ Jake offered smiling warmly.

“No no, I think I’ll be okay. “ Noah answered standing up and stretching. “I think I’ll look over the screenplay on the flight if that’s okay with you.”

“No that’s fine. I was hoping you would. And perhaps you can show it to him and see what he thinks of it.” Jake suggested. “You said he’s a writer as well correct?”’

“Yes a very talented one. He had so much potential and would have gone far had he stayed in college.” Noah admitted sighing deeply. “I understand why he couldn’t but-”

“Well either way finish packing and get some sleep. I’ll let the others know where you’ll be for the next few days.” Jake offered.

Noah smiled warmly as he pushed himself off the couch. “Thanks Jake I owe you one.”

“Forget about it.” Jake said as he picked up his keys and headed out of the room.

Noah waited for his roommate to leave before reaching into his wallet and pulling out a small photo. “Are you still the same Luke?”

Luke Synder signed the last document of the night and tossed it in the done pile before allowing his head to hit the edge of  the desk. A long sigh escaped from his lips, “Finally I’m done.” He reached for his phone to check the time and he nearly hit the ceiling. “Oh shit.” Picking up his jacket off the back of his chair he grabbed his keys and ran out of his office.

Just as he had reached the elevator his phone went off. Checking to see if he had reception in the small area Luke clicked the answer button recognizing the ringtone. ‘I’m on my way.”

“Well I was starting to get worried. What’s taking so long?” Lily asked when her son answered his phone.

“Someone had printed the wrong documents so I had to take care of it myself.” Luke answered.  “Don’t worry I got it taken care of.” Being the head of the Synder foundation; Luke had used his work to make himself get over Reid. Despite still being in love with the doctor he found he had finally managed to accept the other man was gone.

Liliy smiled and her voice showed it through her next words. “I’m so proud of you sweetie. After what happened with Damien and you losing Reid and Noah-“

“Mom please don’t.” Luke said cutting his mother off. “I don’ want to think about that.”

“I’m sorry. Are you coming back to the house or are you going to the farm?”

“I think I want to spend some time outside by the pond so I’ll probably be going to the farm. I need some time to think and clear my head.” Luke answered and stepped out of the elevator. “But I’ll come back down to the house after about an hour.”

Liliy could hear the strain in her son’s voice and sighed. “Luke, why don’t you stay at the farm tonight and spend the day there. I’ll take Faith and Natalie shopping so you can have either place to yourself.”

“What about Ethan?” Luke asked climbing into his car.

“You’re father has him for the weekend. He picked him up from preschool earlier.” Liliy explained.

“Okay I guess I’ll stay at the farm. I’m sure Grandma won’t mind my company. Can you call her and let her know I’ll be coming?” Luke asked. “I’m about to drive and I don’t want to while I’m on the phone”

Lilly smiled from the fact he son knew what safety meant. “That’s fine. It’s not too late I think she’ll still be awake. I’ll call you if it’s okay and if I don’t within five minutes then come right to the house okay?”

“Got it. Thanks mom, bye.” Luke hung up his phone and climbed into the seat of his car.  His phone beeped signaling either a text message or a calendar reminder. Turned out to be the latter. ‘Separation Day’ The blonde threw his phone onto the passenger seat with a sigh of frustration. “I didn’t need to be reminded.” He muttered to himself. Ten minutes had come and gone and he hadn’t heard from his mom at all. “Guess I’ll be heading straight home.” Once he reached the house he pulled into the driveway and parked the car. Luke headed into the house and bypassed all the ‘welcome home’ greetings and offers to join the family for a Friday night with the claim he was tired.  He did however put in his ‘sounds good’ to hearing that Lilly was going to be making waffles for breakfast..

After entering his room Luke removed his blazer and tie tossing them on the back of his desk chair. He unbuttoned the top two buttons of his blue shirt and threw himself face first on the bed. He lay there for a few minutes before rolling over and reaching for a photograph of himself with Noah hugging him from behind.  Through everything his heart ached each time he looked at that picture.  “Are you still the same Noah?” he murmured before setting the picture back on his nightstand. The blonde stood up and proceeded to finish changing out of his office attire and into some nightclothes. With one last look at the picture Luke sighed and turned out the light. Little did he know the following morning he would be seeing more then just waffles.
