Suddenly the world was no longer steeped in pastel but technicolor. Green became teal, purple became aubergine, pink became rose and blue became azure.
Noah's eyes weren't even sapphire, they were azure. The deepest cobalt blue you could ever imagine losing yourself in. Luke was swept away by not only the intensity but the sheer brilliance of his eyes. Eyes that held secrets too wild to spill and mysteries yet to unravel.
Luke loved the way they crinkled at the corner when he was deep in concentration or laughing a little too loudly at one of his jokes. Or the way they stared at him when he didn't think anyone was watching.
When he was aroused they seemed darker, almost blue-black in hue. Noah's soft mouth made his azure orbs seem to stand out against his handsome face. His lips looked like a red squiggle but his eyes held the key to his soul.
As the sparks of pleasure would tingle down his spine and pool in his belly, his azure eyes would roll back deliciously into the back of his head as he panted and keened against Luke.
Then, as he'd cry out sharply just before his thunderous release, those eyes would open suddenly, blown wide with lust. Laying wrapped in the blanket of post-coital bliss, his azure gaze would rest upon Luke and speak silent words of love.
Yet those eyes could be cold and cruel. When tempers would flare and doors would slam, those blue eyes could be icy. Pupils dilating and nostrils flaring with clenched fists, Noah could shoot daggers with his calculating stare.
That blue could hold such sadness and pain too. When Luke told him that he'd fallen in love with another, Noah's eyes looked like he'd just been stabbed in the heart, repeatedly.
Yet the best shades of blue appeared when Luke found himself on Noah's doorstep with a smile on his face and a suitcase in his hand. Those blue eyes changed from cornflower to sapphire to cobalt to azure in a matter of seconds. Framed by dark lashes and sun-kissed skin, they blinked back tears of joy as Noah swept him up and twirled him around.
Hazel met azure's gaze and never looked back.
