Noah couldn't believe it when he heard about Reid's death. The sacrifice that Luke had to make was too great even though Chris was now alive and well. Reid's funeral was this Tuesday and Noah couldn't decide if he was going to go or not.
"Hey!" said Alison coming up behind Noah and jumping him out of his thoughts.
"Please don't do that. You scared the hell out of me!" snapped Noah.
"I'm sorry--" Alison suddenly notices the sad look on Noah's face. "What's wrong? You look upset."
"I was just thinking about Reid and Luke," muttered Noah.
"I know. It was just awful what happened to Reid. Luke had to make the decision that no one should. At least Chris is going to be okay," said Alison.
"Are you going to Reid's funeral?" asked Noah.
"I don't know. I'm not sure. I didn't know Reid very well but I want to be there for Luke. What about you?" said Alison.
"I'm not sure that Luke wants to see my face. I've been such an ass to him," said Noah. Alison rolled her eyes.
"No matter what you think, Luke still loves you and he would be glad to have you to lean on," said Alison.
Noah clicked his tongue and raised his eyebrows.
"I don't know...."
"Oh, please. Don't be an idiot," muttered Alison. She looked at her watch, "I've gotta get back to work. I'll see you later." She patted Noah's arm and left.
Noah watched her go, still wondering on what he should do.
Lily found Luke at the hospital going through Reid's things. He was staring at Reid's stethescope and holding it so tightly in his hands his fingers were turning white.
"Luke? Honey?" asked Lily tentatively. Luke came out of his thoughts and looked at his mother.
"Oh, hi Mom," said Luke as he turned back to Reid's stuff.
"Honey, are you okay? I'm worried about you," said Lily gently placing her hand on her son's back.
"Yeah. I'm fine. I've gotta get the rest of Reid's stuff together and get it out of here. The hospital wants to give this locker to somebody." Luke turned back to putting things in the box.
"Luke, you don't have to do this right now," said Lily.
"Yes. Yes, I do. I have too--" Luke's words were stopped as Lily pulled him into her arms. Lily felt a small sob escape from her son as her arms tightened around him.
"You need to take some time for yourself and you need to get your bearings together, okay? You can do this later. You're grieving, honey," whispered Lily into Luke's ear. She could feel Luke's silent sobs pulsing through his body.
After Luke was all cried out, he finally pulled away from his mother. They sat down on the bench together and Luke began fingering Reid's stethescope.
"I can't believe this happened. It really hurts like hell," said Luke as he stared at the stethescope.
"This is your first real heartbreak, Luke. Of course it would hurt," said Lily.
"You know, even though Reid acted like an inconsiderate jerk to alot of people, he was a beautiful person inside. He was doing a wonderful thing for Chris, taking care of him and finding him a new heart. He just never showed this side to others," said Luke.
"Sweetheart, Reid showed that side to you. He loved you and was planning on being with you. Shouldn't it be enough that you knew what kind of a person that Reid was?" asked Lily.
Luke shook his head. "I don't know."
Lily squeezed Luke's hand and looked into her son's face. "I Know that you've heard this load of bull before but maybe time can heal these wounds."
Luke shook his head again, "No matter whate people say, that is a load of bull. Time is not going to heal these wounds."
What neither of them knew was that Noah was on the outside of the locker room. He had heard the whole thing accidentally.
