Ok, I know I already read this story and the next chapter so it's like cheating but the first time I read it. I was feealing really sad because I could sense something was very wrong with Noah. Since they got back together he was always saying he didn't want to lose Luke and here he is walking away from him because he was afraid of him. I'm not a psychologist but I studied it and I could tell the dream were about something that happened to him. and I just hoped that something wasn't to awful.

Author's Response: I'm really cruel to these guys aren't I? LOL... thanks for reading...

It's painful to watch the boys at the beginning here... seeing Noah pushing Luke away again.  And it's hard because you can tell it's not what Noah wants to do, it's just that he's terrified of what it could mean.

But as awful as it is to watch the boys fight, I think the fight, it works.  That Luke would be confrontational and force the issue, and that Noah, new Noah, would really confront the issues not because he's ready, but because he's just THAT terrified of losing Luke.

My reality-meter is straining from the sex in the barn.  No lube plus rough sex?  They'd hear him squealing from the house.  Seriously.  Don't get me wrong... I've wanted a romp in the hay from the boys since Luke moaned to his dad about never having the opportunity on the show.

The scene with Holden is exactly what it needs to be.

I love how much of a kid Luke can be... and it really shines in the last scene.  But I'm curious... this was clearly planned in advance... before he got the talk from Holden about taking risks, so it made me think about the timing and that not making sense.

Author's Response:

Okay okay!  I admit!  Sometimes I do stretch reality somewhat to get the scene I want...  I know... it's writers prerogative okay?  LOL  I really HATE interupting a LM scene for practicalities... hee hee

Noah is making plans for this future in LA with Luke and I guess buying the house was a symbol of this.  Perhaps it's at odds with his current state of mind, I'm not sure...

Man... what to say.  Your dialogue is getting to that point where I see it in later chapters... much more natural and it's great to see, because it's easier to immerse myself in the story.  I get that this chapter is supposed to jump around in the emotions, but I almost feel it does it too much.

I get the start, the revelation that there may be more to Noah's nightmares than the cabin is important.

I couldn't help but feel that the text message conversation might have been stronger with screen names, giving the reader a puzzle to figure out which screenname belonged to which person.

Then the nightmare scene again.  And it's good because its necessary, but knowing what's coming, I have to wonder... this is going to be triggering for some folks, in part because you did it well.  Have you considered posting warnings in the author's notes?

The ornament bit is nice and ties back into the actual episodes well.  The acknowledgement that he was still part of the family, that Luke himself hung the ornament that placed him in the family even when they were apart... I wanted that to be more emotional, but at the same time, with Noah I can believe it not being more, because he holds so much in.

Then we have feel good scenes between Luke and Noah, and these worked... we get a solid impression of Luke and Noah happy together, Luke and Noah happy to be part of the family.

Then you give us a terrifying cliffhanger... And it is terrifying, because even with the glimpse of the nightmares, it's not clear yet what's going on.

Author's Response:

I wish I had read some of FicNic's texting fics before I wrote this scene then I might have had a better idea on how to pull it off.

I'm glad you think my dialogue improves.  I find conversation one of the hardest things to write... You really have to play the scene out in your head and sometimes I sit for hours trying to come up with the next line.

FINALLY!  Luke has learned to put his foot down and say ENOUGH!  He's learned the hard way that things can fall apart when they don't talk it out, so i'm glad he is standing up for himself.  He had to be so scared when Noah kept walking away.  Old habits die hard!

Oh boy that barn scene!  That was hot!

A house?  He bought him a house?  Oh geeez!  Why can't I ever get a man to do that for me?

Author's Response:

I KNOW!  Some people get all the luck!

Yip... these first few stories really have them dealing with their old problems and showing how much stronger they are this time round.

Name: buttercup (Signed) · Date: June 12, 2011 05:28 pm · For: Chapter 1

Heart warming to see that even though miles separate them, Luke is right there and can sense when Noah needs him.  Thank goodness for cell phones ;o)  So good that they're back together for Christmas.  Love the stairway scene by the way!  Holy crap!  What on earth could make Noah scared of Luke?  Ok, got to go read chapter 2.  You're way too good at this cliffhanger stuff LOL

Author's Response:

Wait until you get to Precious Discovery... that one is cliffhanger central!  Count yourself lucky that you can read the next chapter right away... because usually I leave people hanging for days!  Hee Hee!
